Would be handy to use proxSi - I just went use it on some bushes and discovered it does not work.

Auto update would also be very handy, you can then see when altering an object the result in realtime.

I also had a hard time with SiClone not respecting the layer ON/OFF when rendering. I was trying to render a pass without the Siclone object and it would not turn off. I had to add an edit modifier over the top of the SiClone object.

Have you had any issues with the SiniCline object loosing the objects materials? It seems to just remove them and create a blank standard material?

What are the issues with ProxSi you are having ??
Yes, we are looking at Auto update for our object plugins, so we'll hopefully have it out soon.
All our object plugins e.g. SiClone do not work with any kind of modifiers on top (it will allow them, but will not effect the end result of the render), so that might be why it wasn't respecting the rendering levels, but I will check that out with all our object plugins just in case !!
SiClone also doesn't take any materials. Therefore, it just uses a standard mtls in standard colours to show off the different objects before it renders. Once it renders, it uses the materials from the object instead. So if you replace the mtl on SiClone, it will just put back the mtl on before so you can see the colours.
